Spellbound, Inc. is a leading new-media production company. Our mission is to tell stories that engage people through hearts and minds. We are looking for freelance editors for our channel, Dope or Nope, a new media series that focuses on product reviews with comedic undertones.

Our editors are expected to deliver engaging sequences with emphasis on comedic tone with excellence. A thorough understanding of setup, timing, and payoff is necessary. They must effectively keep the viewer engaged with punches, tight cuts, pacing, accents, and comedic timing. In addition, our editors must display exceptional audio mixing, music editing, and sound design editing skills to elevate the storytelling experience and captivate the audience. Having experience and a strong understanding of YouTube-style editing is critical to meeting our standards.

Core Focus of Position:

Quantitative

• Deliver edits on time and with excellence

Qualitative

• Less Than 40 notes are needed within the first cut (after the initial calibration period of 1 month)

Responsibilities:

• Edit highly shareable video content for Spellbound including 1-2, 30-minute videos per week.
• Collaborate with creatives, writers, and cross-functional teams to tell the most captivating story through video editing.
• Communicate via Slack.
• Utilize Notion for pipeline and information.
• Download and upload data via Databox.
• Organize and ingest Footage.
• Execute first, second and final cuts.
• Apply feedback and Creator Notes.
• Asset Organization.
• Comfortable with sound design, music editing, and audio mixing.
• Proficient in Final Cut Pro or Premiere.
• Experience with motion graphics is a plus.
• Deep understanding of concept-driven, shareable content.
• Detail and goal-oriented and knows how to prioritize to drive impact.
• Curious, adaptable, open to feedback.
• Self-starter who works well with others.

Compensation:

This is a freelance position and therefore you would be classified as an independent contractor. Our current rate, dependent on skill set is $40-$50/hr.
